Christianus: The Form of the Catholic Person
Dom Anscar Vonier
Dom Anscar Vonier, Abbot of Buckfast, was among England's greatest homilists and theologians of the early twentieth century. In "Christianus," Vonier gives an account of the Christian moral life, of the visible "form of the Christian Person," through a series of chapters on the distinct components of the spiritual life that center the believer's soul around the charity of Christ and so form the whole of the mature Christian person. Vonier sees such things Christian discipleship, prayer, liturgy, fruitfulness, dealing with temptation, citizenship, and preparation for death, through a distinctly Christ-centered lens, urging that for all the virtues, and joy in particular, that "We must, above all things, become wise in the mysteries of Christ’s personality."
